No practice after RME today.

There will be no practice after RME today. Enjoy your evening off and be ready to work hard with varsity on tuesday!!

Coach B will be at RME with you today show her how hard you girls can work.

Next friday (June 4th) we will be having a pool party at coventry after RME in place of our practice. More information and invitations will be handed out this week.

If you will be missing or be late to practice this week or next please send me an email reminder stating when and why so I can get a list to Coach B on who will be at practice.

See you girls next week and I hope that you work extra hard for Coach B, Coach Amanda, and give yourselves a good showing to the Varsity girls.

Those of you who came onto the team after the initial tryouts do not have the grey heritage cheerleading shirt talked about on the camp list. I will be getting these to you girls asap.

You are all awesome and I'm very glad to have you in this program :)

To prepare for camp in two weeks, I've attached a packing list and a Sample Camp Schedule. Please look over both documents and let me know if you have any questions.

Our camp gear should be arriving later this week or early next week. I do not anticipate that our uniforms will be in by camp, but could be. For evaluation (4th day), if the uniforms are not in, we will wearing the grey t - shirt you received when you made the team and navy shorts.

Parents and welcomed and encouraged to attend the All Star Performance on Thursday, June 10th at 6:30 pm and the Final Evaluation and Awards on Friday, June 11th at 9:00 am. These performances will both take place in the field east of Williams Village dorms at Darly Commons, 500 30th Street in
Boulder.

Information on All Star Tryouts - Each cheer squad attending UCA camp can nominate squad members to compete for the honor of being named UCA ALL-STAR. All seniors are eligible to tryout. If there are no seniors, then a maximum of six squad members may be nominated to tryout. Each candidate will perform and be judged on the Xtreme dance routine, a camp cheer and a jump. All of which will be taught at camp. If your daughter is nominated to participate in the All Star Tryouts, she will contact you on Wednesday so you can plan accordingly.

Parents, I will need drivers to transport the girls from HHS to CU on June 8th. If you can and are willing, please email me and let me know how many girls you can take. Drivers will only be allowed to carry as many girls as they have available sear belts in their car. Please note that the girls will need to make their own plans for transportation home after camp ends on Friday.

Practice Practice Practice!!!!

Doing Cheerleading Motions Correctly

  • Keep your arms stiff and your muscles tight.

  • Your transitions should be smooth, snappy and quick.

  • You should punch your motions out with a lot of strength.

  • Your wrists should never be bent, cocked or out of alignment with your arms.

  • If you're in an extended motion, your elbows should be locked.

  • Your arms should always be slightly in front of you and level. Don't let your arms bounce or jiggle.

  • Know in what direction your fist should be facing. Keep your thumbs outside your fist.

  • Take the shortest distance to the next motion and wait until the last second to make it. Move quickly and precisely.

  • Your motions should correspond with the syllables of the words in your cheer/chant or the count of your dance routines and stunts.

  • Practice so much that the correct position and movement too becomes a habit.

New Girls:

Your uniform fitting will be on Friday at RME Stunt practice @ 3:45 this should only take a few minutes since there are only 5 of you plus Genesis. Please arrive to RME on time so we can get this taken care of and continue on with our stunt practice.

Thanks

Practice for Wednesday May 12 - CANCELLED

PRACTICE FOR TONIGHT HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

THIS IS BECAUSE HALF OF THE TEAM WILL BE MISSING DUE TO BAND/CHOIR CONCERTS, GRADUATIONS, SICKNESSES, ETC.

PLEASE REMEMBER: I NEED AT LEAST 24 HOURS NOTICE IF YOU WILL BE MISSING PRACTICE. THIS IS SO THAT I CAN JUDGE HOW PRODUCTIVE PRACTICE CAN BE AND CAN MAKE A CONCLUSION ABOUT WHAT WE WILL BE DOING AT PRACTICE AHEAD OF TIME. PLEASE ALSO REMEMBER YOU HAVE 3 ABSENCES ALLOWED, SOME OF YOU ARE GETTING VERY CLOSE TO THOSE THREE.

ALTHOUGH PRACTICE HAS BEEN CANCELLED TONIGHT YOU ARE ADVISED TO UTILIZE THIS TIME TO WORK ON YOUR STRENGTH/CONDITIONING/JUMPS/MOTIONS ETC.

PLEASE ALSO REFER TO THE CALENDAR BELOW TO PRACTICE CHANGES FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS.

THE ECLAIRS AND CINNAMON ROLLS FROM THE FUNDRAISER ARE STILL ON BACKORDER AND IT WILL POSSIBLY BE ANOTHER WEEK.

NEW JV CHEERLEADERS: JAMIE, SAMMI, RHAINE, YHONNIE, AND LIZZY:
$175.00 CAMP FEE IS DUE THIS FRIDAY MAY 14 AND THEN $175.00 CAMP FEE IS DUE MONDAY MAY 24TH.

NEW CHEERLEADERS

You MUST have a parent go online to register you at Rocky Mountain Elite BEFORE coming to stunt practice tomorrow.

www.rmecheer.com is the website or

https://app.jackrabbitclass.com/reg.asp?id=290008 should take you directly to the registration page.

you must completely fill out this form and submit it.

$50.00 registration fee is required as well as the monthly tuition when the girls arrive tomorrow.

see you all there! dont forget your mouth guards!!! :)

Stuff to do at home:

We have 4 full weeks of practice until camp...which is not far away!!

This is what you need to be doing at home on the weekends, when we dont have practice, and when you have extra time:

PRACTICE YOUR MOTIONS IN THE MIRROR. You need to work on your motion placement...watch your wrists (straight line) and you need to be able to see your fists in your peripheral vision. Work on hitting your motions in one solid motion and squeezing your muscles tight to keep your motions sharp. No sloppiness!!

You can do all of our conditioning exercises at home!!
V-ups
Crunches
Buttups
Wall pushups
Regular pushups
Planks
Wall Sits
Leg Lifts (L, R, Middle)
Running
FLYERS: Your Stretches
BASES/BACKSPOTS: Lunge Reps

You can also work on your jumps on a flat solid surface (sidewalk or driveway) Do not do your jumps in the grass, there can be divots that will cause you to twist your ankle.

Our team is only as strong as our weakest person, if you all take part in working outside of practice we can only improve and become an even greater team.

Please Remember:

HHS JV Cheer practices are to be solely the cheerleaders and the coach. If you arrive early to pick your daughter up please wait outside or in the hallway outside of the gym. Please utilize this two hour time frame to run errands and have time to yourself!! This is to the benefit of the team and thanks for your understanding.
**If for any reason you wish to sit in on a part of practice it must be approved through me prior to doing so.

RME Stunting on Fridays: This class ENDS at 4:45. This means you need to have your ride there ready to pick you up at 4:45, not call them when you're done and wait 20+ minutes for them to come get you. If time is an issue you need to work out a carpool with those wonderful parents that have offered to drive. I do not have time to sit around and wait for your rides to pick you up.

Incoming Freshmen: I understand that your 8th grade continuations are approaching (week of May 20). If they conflict with a practice night, you are EXPECTED to arrive at practice as quickly as you can as soon as the continuation is over.

For example: Euclid's 8th grade continuation is on the 20th at 2:30 so this will NOT interfere with practice and you are expected to be at practice.

Powell's 8th grade continuation is May 21st from 5:30 to 6:30...and practice is until 8:30, therefore you should be able to make it to the high school for the majority of practice.

The reason for this is: Camp is quickly approaching and it is too close to camp to be missing practices. I dont want you to fall behind because I want you to succeed at camp!!
